Welcome to Plan Projects – an archive site detailing the projects and people involved in this award winning organisation.
The practice was founded on the belief that successful city-making is about a proper recognition of the social, cultural and economic aspects of shaping places as well as the physical. As a result the Plan Projects team considered the changing as well as the static aspects of urbanism.
However, recognition of the multifaceted nature of urban design would be nothing without an understanding of the subject area. Our place profiling work enabled the team to respond to the specifics of a given locality’s needs, strengths and ultimate objectives.
Under the banner of ‘PlaceShaping’ the list of services offered by the practice is set out below. They were employed separately or in combination to deliver work of the highest professional standard.
The Team Behind Plan Projects
Ivan’s experience running Plan Projects led to a role at AECOM working in the Policy and Appraisal department based at Aldgate Tower in London. Here, he developed a specialism in housing policy, setting up the Housing Research and Delivery Practice (HR+D), a small team that provided housing market intelligence to spatial planning colleagues to enable production of high-quality master-plans, and advice to private and public sector clients on housing mix and the maintenance of balanced communities.
He is now a director within GL Hearn’s Economics Team where he has been able to develop his expertise. His focus is supporting local authorities to develop progressive housing policy and advise the private sector on market dynamics to inform planning strategies within major developments. He works closely with colleagues to provide solutions that underpin the role of housing in securing economic development: strengthening the labour market, underpinning improvements in productivity and promoting households’ socio-economic welfare.
He has delivered housing-related studies for a wide range of clients including the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (MHCLG), the Planning Advisory Service, the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), West Northamptonshire Joint Planning Unit, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, the Harlow and Gilston Garden Town and a number of local authorities.
Ivan is an associate member of the RTPI and holds an MBA from Imperial College London.
